'Our Nic' is hot favourite to pick up an Emmy for her role in the HBO smash Big Little Lies, with GoldDerby putting the 50-year-old actress ahead of Jessica Lange to pick up a gong, with the veteran star also nominated for her betrayal of Joan Crawford in Feud: Bette and Joan.

Judy Davis also picked up her 13th Emmy nomination and will be hoping to take home the award for Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie for her role in Feud: Bette and Joan where she played gossip columnist Hedda Hopper.

Meanwhile Geoffrey Rush has scored a nod for Lead Actor in a Limited Series or TV Movie. He's nominated for his role as Albert Einstein in Genius, however he'll face some competition going up against also Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock), Robert De Niro (The Wizard of Lies), Ewan McGregor (Fargo), Riz Ahmed (The Night Of) and John Turturro (The Night Of) in the category.

And while he might have shocked Tinsletown last year after he won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series Emmy for his performance in Bloodline, Ben Mendolsohn is looking to add another Emmy to his name, picking up a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.

However there were some surprising snubs at this year's awards with many surprised Oprah Winfrey failed to pick up a nom for her role in The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.

HBO hit Girls also failed to pick up a nomination for its final season, while previous winner Rami Malek was overlooked for his role in Mr Robot. Stranger Things star Winona Ryder also missed out, as did Claire Danes (Homeland), Mandy Moore (This Is Us) and Christine Baranski (The Good Fight).

The 2017 Emmy Awards will be held on September 17 in Los Angeles, with this year's ceremoney hosted by Stephen Colbert.
