The Internet wants Oprah to run for president after her Golden Globes speech
The Internet campaign for Oprah Winfrey to run for president in 2020 has officially begun following her incredibly moving speech at this year's Golden Globes.
Her acceptance speech for the Cecille B. DeMille Award gained her three standing ovations from the audience and reduced some to tears as she came out in full support of the Time's Up campaign and spoke out against sexual harassment of women.
"For too long, women have not been heard or believed if they dare speak the truth to the power of those men," Oprah said in her inspiring speech. "But their time is up."
The 63-year-old went on to praise all women who chose to brave coming out and saying "Me Too" and praised "every man who chooses to listen".
"I want all the girls watching here and now to know that a new day is on the horizon," the legendary daytime host boldy stated as she received a standing ovation.
"And when that new day final dawns," she continued, "it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight, and some pretty phenomenal men, fighting hard to make sure that they become the leaders who take us to the time when nobody ever has to say 'Me Too' again!"
It's no wonder the Internet has started a campaign for Oprah to run for president in 2020 after her incredibly inspiring speech.
