Ivanka beats Melania to Forbes Most Powerful Women list

Things are the White House might be a bit frosty right now.

Melania Trump’s step-daughter, Ivanka Trump, has beaten her to a place on one of the most powerful lists in the world – the 2017 Forbes Most Powerful Women list.

36-year-old mum-of-three, Ivanka, came in at number 19 on the prestigious list, however, Melania didn’t make the cut at all.

Amazingly, according to Forbes this is the first time since the list started that the First Lady of the United States hasn’t appeared in the ranking, and it’s the first time ever a First Daughter has made the cut.

Unlike many First Lady’s before her, Melania has opted to shy away from media appearances and mostly spends her time caring for her son, Barron, who she has with Donald Trump.

Ivanka on the other hand is almost seen as a ‘step-in First Lady’, regularly making speeches, having her opinions heard and she’s also a senior advisor to her father.

She famously has her own clothing and shoe line and also advocates to improve the lives of working women - mums in particular.

Ivanka and Melania do have a lot in common though.

They are both fiercely protective mothers, with Melania doting over Barron while Ivanka is often seen posting pictures of her kids on Instagram.

"I am a full-time mom; that is my first job. The most important job ever," Melania told Parenting.

She also famously said she was “not a part of the campaign", when Donald was running for President.

Ivanka has previously written in her Women Who Work self-help book, that she is “busy teaching my children the value of hard work and the importance of family.”

Speaking about their relationship in 2016, Ivanka said she gets along well with her step-mother and thought she would make an “impactful first woman”.

"Melania is very smart, she's very warm, she's got an incredible heart," Ivanka told People.

Likewise, Melania told Harper’s Bazaar said she sees herself as a friend to Donald’s older kids and is there for them when they need her.
