Would you wear chicken flavoured nail polish?

KFC has heard your beauty prayers, and it’s answering them with not one but two chicken-flavoured nail polishes.

The polishes come in two finger lickin’ good colour/flavours — a bright orange (the Hot & Spicy flavour) and a glittery Thousand Islands Dressing shade (the Original flavour), sold only in Hong Kong.

They work, the brand said in a statement published by Adweek, like that bad-tasting nail polish designed to make you stop biting your nails: "To use, consumers simply apply and dry like regular nail polish, and then lick — again and again and again.”

The polishes are part of a Hong Kong campaign to build excitement around KFC, Adweek reports.

“The recipe for our edible nail polish is unique and was specifically designed to hold the flavour, but to also dry with a glossy coat similar to normal nail polish,” says Ogilvy creative director John Koay. “This campaign is designed to be intriguing and fun to increase excitement around the KFC brand in Hong Kong.”

The polishes aren’t being produced for retail yet, but KFC is asking Hong Kong fans to choose the flavour they’d like to purchase in the future.

The rollout includes posters, a social media campaign, and a music video.

The video does clear up a few questions (the colour wears pretty well, for one), but leaves us with so many more.

What does it smell like? Does it attract ants? What happens if you pet your dog? Wouldn’t it ruin your appetite if you’re eating, say, an apple? They’ll go unanswered for now, unless the campaign is such a success that they’re released worldwide.

Until then, we’ll have to get our chicken flavour the old-fashioned way: by eating some.
