Seal joins lucky busker for 'Stand By Me' duet

Sometimes when we’re at a low point in our lives, something completely unexpected and amazing happens to us.

That’s exactly what happened to busker Jason Deeh Pitre, who was having an average day up until Seal asked to join him for a duet of Ben E King's Stand By Me.

The Montreal-based musician was playing his guitar and singing on the streets one evening hoping to earn a few extra bucks, when Seal, who was in town for a secret concert, noticed him and began watching him.

The busker took note of the well-dressed man, who was harmonising with him under his breath, but didn’t think much of him, assuming he was just another onlooker.

In reflective Facebook post, Pitre said that at the end of his performance, he began counting his money when a “tall black man” came up to him, trying to get his attention.

“You really touched me. You have an amazing voice! Seriously. Your guitar playing too. You really touched me,” Seal said.

Still unaware the man was Grammy winner and former Voice coach, Seal, Pitre just glanced at him and thanked him.

As Seal continued to praise him, the busker suddenly jumps out of his skin, recognising the Kiss From a Rose hitmaker by his scars on his cheeks.

Star struck by the world-famous songwriter, Pitre told him, “Man, I'm a huge fan! I own all your albums! You were a great influence on my band's [The Scrolls] music.”

After exchanging some words, Seal recommended they sing a tune together, “Let's play Stand By Me!” Seal says. And the rest is history.
