Nicole makes a surprising decision on her relationship with Keller on MAFS

If you watched the final episodes Married at First Sight you could be forgiven for thinking that Nicole and Keller's 'marriage' was doneski. Over. Kaput. They were headed for Dumpsville - Population: Them.

But in a surprise move, Nicole decided to stick by 26-year-old Keller and continue on their journey of wedded bliss after the couple hit bumpy seas in the final days of the social experiment following Keller's boozy night out.

Wearing his heart on his sleeve, Keller opened up to Nicole in the finale, letting the 28-year-old just how much she means to him.

"Going into this experiment I didn't know what to expect or how it was going to go or anything, then to have the most amazing girl come into my life, I know we have had some downs, but pretty much everything has been up, we've had just a crazy time with each other," Keller told Nicole.

"This has been the best time in my life I reckon and I think it would be crazy for us not to continue this relationship together. I'm head over heels for you and I have never felt this way about a girl before so I think it would be crazy not to."

When it was her time to reply, all signs seemed to point to Nicole wanting to part ways.

"Up until a few weeks ago, this decision would have been easy for me, we had such a connection from the start and heaps of really amazing times," she said.

"Yeah, there have been some challenges thrown at us recently that put some doubts in my mind and made me question your trust and whether or not I could believe in what you're saying to me. You know, you're a super-super-supportive person. You're really caring and affectionate and kind-hearted. And I know you mean the best."

"Um…Oh, this is hard… Um… I've been thinking about the doubts I've had recently, and I've decided that, you really let me down, um, and I'm sorry, but you're going to have to put up with me for a little bit longer."

WHOA. We didn't see that surprise coming!

Clearly elated with the news that even he probably wasn't expecting, Keller responded: "My whole body just went tingling just then."

On Monday night's episode, Nicole and Keller engaged in a tense exchange that then saw the primary school teacher stay the night at a friend's place.

A night out with old Navy buddies saw Keller come home with an anchor tattoo on his ankle, with no recollection of when throughout the night he got it done.

"Man, I had a great night last night. It was awesome. You go out with the navy boys, mate, we always have a f******, we always have a crazy time, and, um, yeah... Well, I woke up this morning and I've got a b****y tattoo on my ankle that... I don't remember it at all," Keller told the camera, showing off his new ink.

"Nicole said it's a bit concerning that I sort of got drunk last night and got a random tattoo that I don't remember getting."

When Keller went to the fridge to pour himself another drink, a clearly frustrated Nicole told Keller she didn't think it was a good idea that he keep drinking, especially after such a big night.

"I’m a big boy I know what I can do and what I can’t do," Keller responded to Nicole.

"Yeah, well pull your s*** together," Nicole fired back, clearly unimpressed with her husband's behaviour.

Disappointed by the way he was acting and reflecting on Keller's outburst at dinner party with the other married couples last week, Nicole then made the decision to leave him for the night and stay at a girlriend's place.

"I don’t know if I can trust him when he’s drinking, and if you don’t have trust in a relationship what do you have?" Nicole said.

At least they have worked it out!
