KAK pays tribute to husband after first Logies win

She's one of Australia's most iconic women in TV with five decades in the biz, and Kerri Anne Kennerley has finally got her hands on a much-deserved Logie.

The TV veteran's incredible contributions to the entertainment industry were recognised as she was inducted into the Logie Award Hall of Fame.

“I did some numbers recently, and I came up with the figure that tonight, I think, is the 31st Logies night that [my husband] John and I have been to,” she said during her speech.

“I personally think we should have gotten a Logie for attendance before now.”

Admitting she was pretty ‘chuffed’ with her standing ovation, the awards show regular took advice from actor Paul Hogan to “be good, be gracious and get off” without boring anyone with a tedious speech.

“You will all be very, very glad to know that I’m not going to use this beautiful salubrious occasion to… lampoon or roast anyone – because I have a book out at the end of the year for that," she joked.

The star also made special mention of her husband of 33 years, with the couple publicly putting on a brave face after John was left an ‘incomplete quadriplegic’ after falling from a Coffs Harbour golf course balcony last year.

“I can honestly say I would give away 50 years of this career and all of the incredible experiences and anything else I could think of just to have you [John] standing right here by my side holding my hand,” she said.

“I promise you one thing my darling, we haven’t finished yet.”

Kerri Anne is the third woman to be inducted into the hall of fame, with Ruth Cracknell the first in 2001, and Noni Hazlehurst taking out the honour last year.
