Paris Hilton on Weinstein 'hitting on her': 'I don't remember'
Paris Hilton has commended women in Hollywood for speaking out against sexual abuse, before commenting on reports claiming Harvey Weinstein 'hit on her' back in 2001.
The 36-year-old, who is in Sydney to promote her new Rose Rush fragrance, says she doesn't remember whether the film producer made an inappropriate sexual advance towards her at the amfAR Gala in France 16 years ago.
"I don’t remember, it was a long time ago," she told Be on Wednesday night.
Earlier this month Page Six reported that Weinstein tried to make a move on the socialite in the women's bathroom at the 2001 amfAR Gala when she was just 20 years of age.
"As soon as Paris arrived, Harvey made a beeline for her and was all over her. He even seemed to be salivating. He used his usual line, ‘Come to my office. I want to make movies with you. I can make you a star'," an alleged eyewitness told the publication.
The source said that Weinstein followed a young Paris into the female bathroom and demanded she opened the door to the cubicle she was in.
Apparently a male worker at the event noticed Weinstein had followed Paris, and informed security guards.
"‘I’m a friend, it’s OK," the source claims Weinstein as saying to the guards, before he eventually backed down and left Paris alone.
Several big names in Hollywood including the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie have spoken out against Harvey Weinstein, following claims he sexually harassed a number of female employees for almost three decades.
On Wednesday night Paris said "it's amazing" to see women coming forward and speaking out agains the movie mogul.
"All girls are like sisters and everyone's coming together and really making a difference," she told Be. "And it’s going to change the whole industry so I love that people are speaking out and support each other."
The blonde beauty also spoke about her new fragrance, to be stocked by Chemist Warehouse in Australia, saying the Rose Rush perfume is a big hit with her boyfriend Chris Zylka.
"He loves it," she blushed. "He thinks it’s so beautiful and so sexy.
"He loves all my perfumes, he wears all my colognes so we’re really supportive of each other and it’s the perfect perfume to go on a date or when you’re falling in love," she added.
And as for falling in love, Paris admits an engagement is well and truly on the cards in the near future.
"I can’t wait," she said. "We’re so happy and he’s my soul mate and I know we’ll have the best life together."
