Sophie Monk is officially the new Bachelorette

Just weeks after she joked about being the first celebrity Bachelorette, Sophie Monk is doing it for real.

And the radio host says she'll be on the lookout for a regular bloke – no attention seekers allowed.

"I would love them to not want fame, just someone down to earth and sweet,” Sophie, 37, told News Corp.

"Someone that really likes me for me."

Oh, and gainfully employed would be good, too.

"Someone that works because I don’t want to have to pay for everything," she said.

Sophie will be following in the footsteps of the previous Bachelorettes Sam Frost and Georgia Love.

Earlier this month Sophie was featured on Tom Gleeson's "Hard Chat' segment of The Weekly, where she told him she was keen to get onto the show.

"You were discovered through one of the very first reality shows, Pop Stars. Do you wish you waited until a reality show came up that people actually remember?" Tom asked her.

"Yeah, I guess I wish I was in one now. A cooler one," Sophie replied, adding, "Bachelorette. [I’m] very single."

When Tom asked, "Do they have Celebrity Bachelorette?" Monk replied, "No they don’t, but I could be the first."

Sophie went on to meet with show producers, leading to the new deal being inked.

Looks like dreams really do come true!
