Miranda Kerr gets real about model "rejection"

From the outside, Miranda Kerr’s life looks pretty perfect - she’s one of the world’s biggest supermodels, runs a successful skincare brand and is dating a billionaire.

But while Kerr counts her blessings, she also admits she’s had to battle with rejection before, particularly in the early stages of her career.

The model visited the set of Australia’s Next Top Model this week, where she gave contestants some sage advice about learning to deal with criticism.

"Inevitably rejection is going to happen in this career," Kerr told the girls on set.

"I’ve had so much rejection myself, and it’s because I didn’t take it personally and I just had fun with it, that is why I feel I’ve continued my career as long as I have."

According to The Daily Telegraph, Kerr also added that she had never imagined she’d still be in front of the camera 20 years later.

"I never ever envisioned that it would last this long,” the model admitted. “I can’t believe I am modelling 20 years later, it is kind of wild really."

Kerr first started modelling at the tender age of 13, when she appeared on the cover of Dolly after winning the magazine’s coveted model competition.

Now 33, Kerr has walked the runway in countless high-fashion shows, including the Moschino resort show last month.

The model has consistently maintained a healthy diet and exercise regime over the years in order to stay fit for her countless photo shoots and appearances.

“I try my best to eat healthy, organic foods 80 per cent of the time but it’s also important not to deprive yourself of things because then you just crave it more and rather than eating one piece of chocolate, you’ll devour the whole block,” Kerr told digital beauty magazine Gritty Pretty earlier this month.

The 33-year-old, who lives in Malibu with her five-year-old son Flynn, opened up to the magazine about her balanced diet and how she got her incredible Met Ball abs.

“Sure, when I have a big event or a photo shoot, I tend to workout a bit harder or focus on the areas that are going to be visible. For example, at the Met Ball, my midriff was visible so I focused a bit more on abs that week.”

Kerr, who recently gave up her Swarovski ambassador crown to Karlie Kloss, passionately gushed about her KORA Organics beauty line during the interview, claiming she hopes to release 10 new products to the range this year.

"We’re currently in the process of upgrading our packaging – it will be an elevated version of the signature KORA blue. And, we’re also developing 10 new exciting products, which we hope to launch over the next year. But, I can’t give away too much,” she said.
