5 reasons Michelle Obama is the ultimate First Lady

The Obama’s time in office may be coming to an end, but First Lady Michelle isn’t going out without a bang.

Over the year, she's delivered a series of eloquent speeches including one in July that that will go down in history as one of the most poignant, truthful and heartfelt ever delivered by a First Lady (and hopefully Melania Trump doesn’t copy it).

In a masterful 10 minutes, Obama managed to completely take down Trump’s political platform, calling him out for his tagline, ‘Make America great again’ without actually saying his name.

"Don't let anyone ever tell you that this country isn't great, that somehow we need to make it great again, because this right now is the greatest country on earth," she said. "And as my daughters prepare to set out into the world, I want a leader who is worthy of that truth.

"I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves, and I watch my daughters - two beautiful, intelligent, black young women - playing with their dogs on the White House lawn. And because of Hillary Clinton, my daughters and all our sons and daughters now take for granted that a woman can be president of the United States."

Barack called her speech “incredible” in a tweet afterwards, saying he couldn’t be more proud of her, while actress Mia Farrow added, "One can completely understand why people plagiarise Michelle Obama.”

While we'll no longer get to hear from Michelle as the First Lady again, no doubt she’ll continue the great work that made her one of the best. Here are all the reasons we’ll miss her in the White House:

1. She’s an advocate for girls’ education
Michelle believes everyone has the right to learn. “If I worried about who liked me and who thought I was cute at your age, I wouldn’t be married to the President of the United States today,” she told the audience at Glamour's 'The Power of an Educated Girl' event in an attempt to encourage girls to put books before boys. She also pioneered the ‘Let Girls Learn’ platform, which aims to help adolescent girls obtain a quality education.

2. She’s a supportive partner.
Have you ever seen even a hint of conflict between Michelle and Barack (except for that time he tried to take a selfie at a funeral, because really, wtf?). You’ll never catch these two putting each other down or talking trash, and that’s their strong point.

3. She’s smarter than Melania Trump

That much is obvious by Melania’s blatant plagiarism of a speech Michelle gave in 2008. We could go on about Melania, but as Michelle so eloquently put it: ‘When they take the low road, you take the high’.

4. She’s not afraid to speak out about difficult issues
From gun violence to ‘Black Lives Matter’, Michelle has been vocal about the issues plaguing America, pledging her support for anti-gun laws and campaigning tirelessly to encourage black people to persevere against prejudice in their everyday lives.

5. She can sing
And she likes Beyonce. Case in point: see her epic rendition of ‘Single Ladies’ alongside James Corden.
