You have never seen San Francisco like this before

Landscape photographer and self-proclaimed ‘fog aficionado’ Lorenzo Montezemolo headed north over the Golden Gate bridge to capture this epic shot in Marin County.

If the fog weren’t there, you would be able to see the city in the background.

Speaking to Be Lorenzo says he managed the shot because there are quite a few high hills in the area.

“I hiked up the side of a mountain with my camera and tripod and took some photos.”

But how did he make the fog look like it is moving?

“It’s actually a three minute and six second exposure. I used a filter on the front of my camera to restrict the light for such a long exposure.”

While not a native Californian, Lorenzo does call the area home now and says it is a special place to photograph.

“One of the great things about San Francisco, as a photographer, or even as anyone who is into nature, is that within an hour you can be north of the Golden Gate Bridge with beautiful rolling hills. In another direction there is wine country and then miles and miles of coastline to photograph or just enjoy visually.”

If there is one tip Lorezno would give budding photographers it is to try and capture the things that are unique about a place when you travel.

“This fog photo is typical of San Francisco too and it is a nice way of representing the area.”

While the photographer loves to snap images at home he admits he has caught the Northern Lights Bug.

“For the last few years I have been travelling to Northern Europe in the winter months to capture the Northern Lights.

“I have been to the Lofoten Islands in Norway and Iceland as well and am planning to back.

“Outside of those cold places, I really like to photograph New Zealand.”
