Millions of Aussies were glued to their TVs this morning waiting with bated breath for the results of the marriage equality postal survey. And the Australian Bureau of Statistics made them wait just a little bit longer.
Understandably people just wanted to find out the result and didn't take too kindly to the four minute speech given by ABS chief statistician David Kalisch prior to reading out the outcome of the voluntary survey.
Kalisch spent time explaining to the nation how the survey worked and the statistics surrounding it, as well as a 'brief' background on the ABS.

Dubbed 'the man who kept Australia waiting', he finally revealed that 61.6 per cent of voters had ticked 'yes'.
Social media blew up about being made to wait for the result, and these are some of the best reactions from Twitter.
