Four things we learned from the Australian Survivor trailer
A sneak peek at this year’s Survivor has dropped and boy are people excited.
For 2018 the physically demanding reality show has got a swish new format that sees ‘Champions’ take on regular ‘Contenders’ and it looks epic.
So here’s what we know about the hit show so far.
There’s some very familiar faces hitting the island
Yup, Channel Ten has decided to dig deep into the pool of Australian sporting talent and pulled out some beauties.
AFLW player Moana Hope, 30, is the standout for the girls and can be heard stating that “it’s not always the strongest team wins” in the trailer.
Moana is sure to be a strong contender as she’s a multi-talented athlete who recently gave up playing cricket to focus on footy.
She’s joined by former Cronulla Sharks player Mat Rogers as well as a well-known army war veteran Damien Thomlinson.
In 2005 Damien lost both his legs whilst serving in Afghanistan but he’s since gone on to compete at the Invictus Games and will be a force to be reckoned with.
2. The show is going to be action packed
The trailer plays to a slow-mo remix of Gloria Gaynor’s classic song, I Will Survive, which sends shivers of anticipation down your spine.
Among the various shots we can see dramatic images of fire, water and sand which just adds to the drama.
There’s also a sneak peek of the contestants duelling and we can’t deal.
3. We’ll be inspired by some of the accomplishments
With everyday contestants such as mum-of-two, Tegan, and female FIFO worker Jenna tackling the insane challenges and living off tiny rations, it’s fair to say we’re going to see some seriously impressive action.
“Put me next to a Champion in the final two and I will beat them hands down,” Tegan says, showing she’s made of pure determination.
Add that to the fact we have a Paralympian in the mix, we’re sure audiences are going to feel excited by life after watching the show.
4. Fans are already hooked
Judging from the reaction on social media to the short clip, fans are already going nuts for the show and its new style.
“Just … wow … AMAZING!” one excited Twitter user wrote in response to the trailer.
“Ok that #SurvivorAU was legit lit. I’m in,” another declared.
Last year Survivor saw a huge drop in ratings which could be why producers have come up with this surprise new format.
Bring it on.
