It’s no secret Mykonos and Santorini are on the exy side. The Dodecanese stunners will suck your wallet dry before you have a chance to dine out on the epic slo-ro lamb shoulder. So, we’ve rounded up the best nearby Greek Isles, that aren’t so generic, and won’t break the bank.

Paros

You’ll still get the party vibes of Mykonos, especially in the main town of Naousa. For a couple of Euros you can take the bus out to Santa Maria Beach for cocktails and more crystal-clear water. There’s a nearby winery and horseback riding for those who’re keen on adventure.

Rhodes

One for the history buffs. Old Town Rhodes is surrounded by a wall from the ye’ olde ancient times. The cobblestone streets serve medieval vibes and the castle-like Palace of the Grand Masters will blow you away. Head to Lindos for a turquoise swim and donkey ride up the hill for views of the whole bay.

Lipsi

Just eight kilometers in length, Lipsi is a cosy island to set up shop away from the tourists. We’d go just for the myzithra – the island’s famous cheese specialty of goat’s milk and seawater.

The Samaria National Park hike, the Venetian castle on the beach, endless ruins and traditional Sarikopitakia (that’s cheese pie for those playing at home.) These are some of the pleasing attributes Crete has to offer. And we haven’t even started on the beaches.
