Ainsley Harriott has one guilty pleasure when it comes to food.

And it involves absolutely no cooking at all.

“My guilty pleasure would have to be a naked breakfast,” the cheeky chef divulged to Yahoo7. “But only on weekends.”

The charismatic British culinary sensation is in Australia as the face of this year's Melbourne Good Food & Wine Show, the first event which kicks off a national tour through Perth, Sydney and Brisbane in 2015.

The 58-year-old star of the hit show Ready, Steady, Cook says apart from nude brekkies, what he likes to bring to the table is “food that everyone can appreciate”.

“I’m not one of those chefs that tries to blind people with science,” he says. “You don’t have to buy all of these weird and wonderful ingredients from very expensive delis. I’m about bringing good food to the people and making it very accessible.”

Some of the dishes he’ll be cooking at the show are from his latest television series, Ainsley Eats The Streets, which airs in Australia on SBS in August.

“I’ll be making gravlax with potato cakes and mustard dill sauce, which is linked with my time in Reykjavik, Iceland and also a fabulous lamb tagine with apricot, honey and chickpeas from when I was in Fes, Morocco,” he says.

For dessert, there will be iced berries with white chocolate sauce from Sicily.

We’re salivating already Ainsley!

The father-of-two and best-selling author of 12 food books says he’s proud to be one of the pioneers of celebrity chef culture, though remaining humble is important to him.

“Too often with chefs it’s all about their ego,” he says. “It’s all about keeping the art of cooking alive. It’s about the next generation of people coming though who are going to inspire people to cook so they have the appreciation of food. That’s the key.”

Catch Ainsley Harriott in person at GFWS series, being held in Melbourne this weekend from June 5 – 8.
