Angelina Jolie has done her first major interview since her highly-publicised split with Brad Pitt, and people are outraged.
Not because of anything she said about her marriage – but rather, her revelations about how she cast the young Cambodian actors in her new film First They Killed My Father.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, the 42-year-old, who is a Special Envoy for the United Nations Refugee Agency UNHCR, recalled trawling the country for children who had experienced hardship, visiting orphanages, circuses and schools.
The actress says that when meeting the impoverished children, the casting directors would put money on the table and tell the kids to think up a reason they really needed it, and then try to snatch it away.
“Srey Moch [the girl eventually cast in the movie] was the only child that stared at the money for a very, very long time,” Ange told Vanity Fair. “When she was forced to give it back, she became overwhelmed with emotion. All these different things came flooding back.”
The publication claims that Angelina began “tearing up” herself at this point.
“When she was asked later what the money was for, she said her grandfather had died, and they didn’t have enough money for a nice funeral.”
Readers of the article took to social media to slam the actress, and safe to say they weren’t kind.

The star has had a connection with the country ever since filming Lara Croft: Tomb Raider there in 2000.
She returned on a UN trip in 2002 and adopted her son Maddox, now 15, from an orphanage in Battambang.
Ange now has a house in Cambodia and even became a citizen in 2005.
