Aussie model recounts horror fall down stairs after seizure
She’s the ultra-glamorous Aussie model famed for the body positive approach that’s made her a household name and pin-up girl for women everywhere.
Now Robyn Lawley has shared shocking photos of injuries she sustained after falling down stairs at her home two months ago.
The Sydney-born supermodel, who was diagnosed with lupus and autoimmune condition antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) in 2015, explained how she has been taking the last few months off to heal.
“I unfortunately had a seizure on my staircase, I fell from over 7ft [2.1 metres] and landed on my face,” Robyn revealed on Instagram.
“I suppose it’s ironic that I’m a model, however I’m grateful I didn’t break my neck.”
Robyn, who has three-year-old daughter Ripley, now has a “lightening bolt scar” on her forehead, as well as scars on her lip and chin, but knows all too well it could have been much worse.
“I’ve managed to come full circle with that gratefulness, and luck,” the 29-year-old wrote. “I could of had it holding my daughter for example, or I could be in a wheelchair, or not breathing at all.”
The Sydney-raised model shared the news with her fans after deciding to return to work, with planned events at an upcoming fashion week.
“As the scars fade, apart of me wants nothing to do with them and a part of me wants to embrace them,” she wrote. “They make us who we are.”
Robyn’s since been flooded with messages of support from fans.
“You were physically beautiful to begin with but this personal/spiritual strength is even more beautiful and inspiring,” wrote one. “Thank you for sharing your story and spreading your soulful perseverance!”
