Aussie TV star's 'gross' pregnancy side effect

Aussie TV star, Yvonne Strahovski, has revealed she’s been battling with a ‘gross’ side effect during her first pregnancy.

The actress, who currently stars in The Handmaid’s Tale, told The Project she has been forced to carry around a “spit bucket” after battling with the unusual symptom of producing too much saliva.

“There’s a lot of pregnancy symptoms that no one tells you about – which I’m sure all women are familiar with,” Yvonne said.

“This is really gross but I had excessive saliva so I had to carry a spittoon around with me at all times which is just horrendous,” she went on, much to the horror of the show’s hosts Carrie Bickmore, Waleed Aly and Peter Helliar.

Even 35-year-old Yvonne couldn’t quite believe what she’d “just admitted” on the live TV show.

But the actress, who interestingly plays a character in the SBS show called Serena who can’t get pregnant, confessed she soon got over trying to conceal her unusual pregnancy side effect from her co-stars.

“In the end I was just over-hiding it so I just said, ‘you know what, I’m pregnant’,” she laughed. “People thought that I had the flu or that I was sick, they were scared to come near me.”

Yvonne, who stars alongside Golden Globe winner Elisabeth Moss, is due in September with her husband Tim Loden.
