Could being too attractive hinder your career?

According to a US author, you need to be a seven out of ten on a scale of attractiveness to succeed in the workplace.

Speaking on The Morning Show, Michelle Miller said people who are too attractive find it hard to make it to the top of their company, similar to people who are below a seven ranking.

"It's very beneficial when you’re a woman in business to be a seven out of ten, which means you're attractive enough to be noticed but you're not so attractive that you're written off,’ she said.

"With women, there actually is a point where it becomes a liability and I think in my career I saw a lot of very attractive women actually have their accomplishments and their brains undermined because they were too hot.”

According to Michelle, society determines what number you are on the scale and ‘it’s funny how natural it comes’ ranking people.

“No one has trouble once you give them permission to operate on a scale with sort of calling people out,” she said.
