Sephora Breaks World Record By Completing 133 Makeovers In One Hour

Sephora has broken a Guinness World Record, by managing to complete 133 makeovers in under one hour at their Pitt St Mall store in Sydney.

Last December, Sydney's beauty scene was sent into disarray when Sephora opened a massive store in Sydney and last Saturday they celebrated their one-year anniversary in a very special way.

A group of dedicated Sephora make-up artists smashed the previous Guinness World Record of 118 makeovers in one hour, which was set by a group of makeup artists in the United Kingdom, five years ago.

Speaking after the event, Libby Amelia, Country Manager at Sephora said while official paper work will take a week or two to come through, the beauty brand is thrilled to have beaten the number they were aiming for.

“Sephora’s chosen makeup artists were in fine form today, performing the event with such speed and completing one makeover every 1.45 minutes.” said Ms Amelia.

“The Pitt Street store is known for breaking records. When Sephora opened its doors to Sydney on launch day last year, we saw the global record broken for the most sales ever on the first day of trade for a new store."

The world record attempt started at 11am and ended at 12pm on Saturday.

Excited participants then headed in store for Sephora's first birthday bash, which lasted until 7pm.

The beauty brand is hoping to open up more stores in Australia in the coming years and in November they launched their online store, where a range of exclusive brands are available.
