'Hidden Rainbow' hair is here to brighten up your ‘do

It’s the hairstyle that’s business up top and party underneath, and Instagram feeds are going crazy with colour thanks to the new “Hidden Rainbow” hair trend.

The perfect choice for those who lust after My Little Pony locks but still want to keep their day job, this dye effect sees insane shades hidden underneath your natural hair.

“Hidden rainbows are placed in spots not normally seen unless the hair is up,” hair stylist Athena Golden told The Huffington Post. “We usually place layers to give the peekaboo effect.”

While there’s no word on how long you’ll have to sit in the salon to achieve the effect, you definitely want to go to someone who knows what they’re doing.

“Done wrong, the colours mix with the base tone of the hair and make a colour not intended,” adds Athena. “For instance, blue on yellow-blonde will result in a green colour.”
