A date has been set for the Dyson hairdryer to land on Australian shores and while we're ridiculously excited about this, it seems you may need to dig deep into those pockets to afford it.

It's been announced that the Supersonic hairdryer is now available for pre-order ahead of its official retail launch on July 9th and it costs a whopping $699.

However before the internet loses its s%&! over the hefty price-tag, just remember that it took four years to make, cost the company $50 million and the fact that Dyson's vacuum cleaners are the best out there, surely the hairdryer will follow suit right?

Dyson took four years to release this hairdryer, spending the time meticulously researching the science of hair by using 1010 miles of actual human hair.

103 engineers studied hair from root to tip, understanding how it reacts to stresses, how to keep it healthy and how to style it.

The new dryer is also a lot smaller and lighter than a normal dryer and apparently it's eight times as powerful.

According to Dyson it's their "smallest, lightest, most advanced digital motor".

The first drop will be available exclusively in Myer Melbourne City and David Jones, Elizabeth St Sydney, from midday on Saturday July 9th.

From Sunday, 10th July the hairdryer will be widely available from other selected Myer and David Jones stores nationwide.
