Uma Thurman Hits Back At Critics
Uma Thurman has defended her new look, calling rumours that she's had plastic surgery "nasty".
Thurman sent the rumour mill into overdrive this week when she stepped out at the New York premiere of The Slap with a markedly different appearance.
Appearing on the Today show after the premiere, the 44-year-old actor told TV host Savannah Guthrie that "I guess nobody liked my makeup".
Critics were quick to attribute her smooth forehead and cheeks to plastic surgery, but her makeup artist, Troy Surratt, has put the transformation down to different makeup techniques.
Suratt said he opted to give Thurman a bold lip, and held back on the eyeliner and mascara. "I think that women should feel open and free to experiment with different beauty looks — it's only makeup, at the end of the day it all washes off."
Thurman's fellow celeb Renee Zellweger received similar treatment when she put in a red carpet appearance with a different look in October 2014. Observers at the time similarly put her transformation down to plastic surgery, an accusation Zellweger denied.
