Ben Affleck has taken to Twitter to apologise for groping a former MTV host on television.

Hilarie Burton was just 21 when she says the Oscar-winner grabbed her breasts during an interview.

Ben, who has two young daughters, took to social media to issue an apology.

“I acted inappropriately toward Ms. Burton and I sincerely apologise,” he wrote on Twitter.

The Good Will Hunting star is already under fire for claiming not to know anything about the sexual harassment history of Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.

Actress Rose McGowen slammed the actor on Twitter, calling him a liar adding that he’d told her he asked Harvey to “stop doing that”.

Rose has been incredibly vocal on social media, launching a crusade against Harvey and his obscene behaviour after claiming she was assaulted by him in 1997.

Ben’s incident ended up being raised by a fellow Twitter user who wrote: “He also grabbed Hilarie Burton’s breasts on TRL once. Everyone forgot though”.

Ben had earlier taken to Facebook to condemn Harvey's actions, saying he was "saddened and angry that a man who I worked with used his position of power to intimidate, sexually harass, and manipulate many women over the decades."

"We need to do better at protecting our sisters, friends, co-workers, and daughters. We must support those who come forward, condemn this type of behavior when we see it and help ensure there are more women in positions of power." he wrote.

Meanwhile a second woman has come forward claiming Ben inappropriately touched her at a Golden Globes after party in 2014.

Annamarie Tendler took to Twitter alleging the movie star "grabbed" her "ass".

"I would also love to get an apology from Ben Affleck who grabbed my ass at a Golden Globes party in 2014," she wrote.

She went on to say that even though she didn't report the incident she has spent a lot of time thinking about what she's say if she saw Ben again.

The Batman star's comments come after Harvey, 65, was fired from The Weinstein Company following the emergence of the allegations.

And Ben isn't the only star to have condemned the producer's alleged behaviour either, as Kate Winslet dubbed the alleged actions as "disgraceful and appalling".

She said: "His behaviour is without question disgraceful and appalling and very, very wrong. I had hoped that these kind of stories were just made up rumours, maybe we have all been naïve.

"And it makes me so angry. There must be 'no tolerance' of this degrading, vile treatment of women in ANY workplace anywhere in the world. (sic)"

Meryl Streep has also condemned the producer - who worked with the 68-year-old actress on The Iron Lady - branding his behavior "inexcusable".

She said: "The disgraceful news about Harvey Weinstein has appalled those of us whose work he championed, and those whose good and worthy causes he supported.

"The intrepid women who raised their voices to expose this abuse are our heroes. One thing can be clarified. Not everybody knew.

"Harvey supported the work fiercely, was exasperating but respectful with me in our working relationship, and with many others with whom he worked professionally."

Harvey has denied claims published by the New York Times newspaper earlier this month that he had harassed at least eight female employees over a 30-year time span and has vowed to take legal action.

However, he has said sorry for causing "pain" to some of his colleagues at times during his career, and admitted he is planning to make amends for his past mistakes.

He has since fled to Europe to enter a rehab facility after his wife, Georgina Chapman, announced she was leaving him.
