The bizarre royal wedding rules Princess Eugenie has to follow

While all brides stress out about flowers, bridesmaids and bands for their wedding day, spare a thought for Princess Eugenie who has a long list of royal rules she has to follow on her big day.

The 28-year-old daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson is set to say ‘I do’ to Jack Brooksbank on October 12th in a lavish Windsor Castle wedding.

And now it’s been revealed that there’s a huge royal wedding protocol checklist for the new bride to tick off.

According to the Evening Standard, there are actually 17 rules Eugenie will be expected to follow to keep royal wedding tradition alive.

One of the most bizarre ones is that her wedding bouquet needs to contain myrtle, which has been carried by every bride since Queen Victoria walked down the aisle.

The royal bride is expected to lay her bouquet at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior, although it’s not stated whether or not this occurs before or after the reception.

Other unusual rules indicate that the royal family must always sit on the right-hand side of the church, Princess Eugenie will wear a tiara and that the bride’s ring must be made of Welsh gold.

And while many royal brides have had their wedding day televised over the years, Princess Eugenie’s big day may be snubbed by British broadcaster, the BBC.

Reports are circulating that the BBC has rejected pleas from her father Prince Andrew, to broadcast the day, and apparently cited that a lack of public interest would make the wedding a rating flop.

“The BBC was approached because they have a special relationship with Buckingham Palace and a formula that works,” an unnamed source told the Mail on Sunday.

“But they turned it down because they don’t think enough people will tune in and that there isn’t enough support for the Yorks.”

They added that despite the royal family’s biggest names – and a whole lot of high profile celebrities – being on the guest list, “nobody wants to take the risk and spend the money it would cost to put it on air.”

The palace has yet to make an official comment on whether the wedding will be televised, but as Eugenie is set to walk down the aisle in less than a month’s time, we’re hoping for an announcement soon.
