Brad Pitt's joy of being reunited with children

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s custody battle over their children has been a drawn-out process since news of their split emerged in 2016.

Two years later, it’s said Brad is getting closer to spending more time with his six children – Maddox, 16, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 11 and nine-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne – and he couldn’t be more thrilled.

“To have the kids back, especially Shi, who he’s very close with, is a dream come true for Brad,” an alleged source has told Woman’s Day magazine.

“The past two years without them has been hell and he’s very excited for all the catching up they’ll be able to do once he’s allowed to see them without a counsellor hovering over their visits.”

Last month the 54-year-old World War Z actor debunked claims made by Angelina, when court papers were filed by the actress on Tuesday Brad hasn’t paid any “meaningful” child support for their six children.

Lawyers for Brad filed a response on insisting he had paid over $12 million ($9 million USD) to Angelina in child support since their split in September 2016, Entertainment Tonight reported.

“Respondent has previously loaned Petitioner $8.0 million (USD) to assist her in purchasing her current residence and has paid over $1.3 million (USD) in bills for the benefit of Petitioner and the minor children,” the court papers stated, according to Entertainment Tonight.

Brad’s lawyers also claimed Angelina and her attorneys never made any mention of child support in previous documents and labelled her recent court filings “calculated to increase the conflict”.

The actor’s camp branded Ange’s child support claims “calculated,” “unnecessary” and a “thinly-veiled effort to manipulate media coverage”.

In a two-page brief filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, Ange’s attorney Samantha Bley DeJean stated Brad has a “duty to pay child support” and claimed he “has paid no meaningful child support since the separation”.

“Given the informal arrangements around the payment of the children’s expenses have not been regularly sustained by [Pitt] for over a year and a half, [Jolie] intends to file [a request for a court order] for the establishment of a retroactive child support order.” The filing did not define or elaborate on what is meant by “meaningful” support.

Brad was previously married to Jennifer Aniston, but the pair split in 2005 after five years of marriage.

The actor moved on with Angelina after he met her on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith but after 11 years together, two of which they were married, Brange announced they were separating in 2016.

Since then the pair have been locked in a messy divorce battle which, by the looks of it, won’t be coming to a close any time soon.
