Bride catches mother-in-law in super awkward moment

Planning a wedding is stressful enough at the best of times, but throw in an already strained relationship with your future mother-in-law, and you’ve pretty much got a ticking time bomb on your hands.

One bride has shared how the situation blew up in her face when she caught her fiancé‘s mum secretly trying to squeeze into her wedding dress.

Taking to Reddit to vent her frustration, the bride explained that she and her mother-in-law had already been arguing about the cost and location of the upcoming wedding, and that she’d been weathering criticism from her throughout the planning process.

“She came over yesterday, theoretically to see our new house, but instead offered the following criticisms,” she wrote.

“She hates my engagement ring… Our house is an extravagant display of wealth and just ‘isn’t us’… [and] I’m getting fat. Need to watch the c alories so I can ‘fit into my dress’.”

But things went from bad to seriously awkward later that night, when she caught her mother-in-law in a very compromising position.

Walking into her own bedroom unexpectedly, the bride caught her mother-in-law struggling to get her wedding dress on – all while wearing no underwear.

“I blurted out ‘what the hell?!’ and she immediately started stammering ‘Oh my God! OH MY GOD! OH GOD!’” she recounted.

Afraid her dress would tear, she went over to help get the mother of the groom out of the dress, and was horrified to find that a lot of damage had already been done.

“She managed to scratch her way through the back of the dress and completely destroy the sheer material.

“She burst the side zipper of the dress and got a dirty foot print on the train.”

To add insult to injury, when pressed about why she decided to sneakily try on the gown, the mother-in-law apparently replied, “that she was just trying to make sure the dress would fit me; because if the dress fit her, then it absolutely fit me too. If it didn’t fit her, then I obviously had some work to do.”

Luckily, this poor bride isn’t taking any of her nasty comments to heart, and was pleased to report that the dress actually fits her like a glove.

Meanwhile readers on Reddit have been quick to respond to her story with advice; namely, that her mother-in-law could probably benefit from a little therapy.
