Can you see why this ad is getting slammed on social media?
A billboard in the middle of New York City promoting appetite suppressant lollipops has sparked outrage on social media.
The huge ad for the Flat Tummy Company in Times Square showcases a woman sucking on a lollipop, giving the message if women were to use the sweets they would combat any cravings to aid in weight loss.
Television star Jameela Jamil snapped a photo of the advert, sharing her disbelief as to why the billboard even exists.
“EVEN TIMES SQUARE IS TELLING WOMEN TO EAT LESS NOW?” she wrote on Twitter. “Have we actually gone mad?”
The Good Place actress also insinuated the billboard was sexist.
“Why aren’t there any boys in the ad? Why isn’t it f**king PINK? Because you feel men can look however they want?” she wrote. “Their goals are to be successful. But ours are just to be smaller?”
“This is maddening and heart breaking, and daylight robbery and abuse of women’s self worth,” the 32-year-old said in another tweet.
Jameela’s initial post has now received over 3,000 retweets and nearly 12,000 likes, with many agreeing the ad is sexist.
FFS. Pink? Lollipop? “1.5m Babes and counting”? #suckit? In Times Square? Your success depends on a flat tummy, women of the world! Atrocious…. @FlatTummyCo pic.twitter.com/WKiRcAQ5KG

Another woman on Twitter also pointed out the advert is harmful to those who have suffered with eating disorders.
Hey Twitter,
Let’s use our power for good by guilting @FlatTummyCo into taking down their Times Square billboard advertising appetite suppressants.

Back in May, Kim Kardashian was slammed on Instagram for promoting the appetite suppressing lollipops.
At the time Kim called the lollipops “unreal” and encouraged her followers to order them on the company’s website.
She has since changed the caption of the photo.
