As they still come to terms with her sudden death, Carrie Fisher fans want her biggest role as Princess Leia in Star Wars honoured in the highest way possible.

More than 25,000 people have signed a petition on Change.org, calling on Disney to make Leia an official "Princess" in a coronation ceremony fit for royalty.

Disney, who bought Lucasfilms in 2012, have spoken about their admiration for the 60-year-old actress and the role that shot her to stardom.

"Carrie Fisher was one-of-a-kind, a true character who shared her talent and her truth with us all with her trademark wit and irreverence. Millions fell in love with her as the indomitable Princess Leia," Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger said in a statement following her death.

Carrie's daughter Billie Loude has broken her silence since losing her mother, and grandmother (and Carrie's mother) Debbie Reynolds who tragically passed away a day after own daughter.

The brave 24-year-old took to Instagram to let her fans know how she’s doing and how grateful she is for all the support she has been receiving.

She shared a nostalgic photo of her, her mum and grandma smiling for a photo together and captioned it: “Receiving all of your prayers and kind words over the past week has given me strength during a time I thought strength could not exist.

“There are no words to express how much I will miss my Abadaba and my own and only Momby. Your love and support means the world to me,” she wrote.

Carrie suffered a heart attack during a flight from London to LA and sadly passed away on December 27, while Debbie suffered a fatal stroke on December 28.
