Cate Blanchett claims Weinstein behaved inappropriately with her

Cate Blanchett is the latest in a string of female celebrities who have accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault.

The 48-year-old Australian actress opened up about her experience with the disgraced film producer in a new interview, and when asked if he sexually harassed or behaved inappropriately with her, she said “With me, yes”.

“I think he really primarily preyed, like most predators, on the vulnerable. I mean I got a bad feeling from him. He would often say to me, ‘We’re not friends’,” Cate told Variety.

She then added, “Well, I wouldn’t do what he was asking me to do”.

Cate had previously defended a woman’s right to wear what she wants without fear of being sexually harassed in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

“We all like looking sexy,” she told the audience at the Instyle Awards last year. “But it doesn’t mean we want to f*ck you.”

Cate’s words follow the mounting accusations of sexual misconduct against Weinstein, many of which are still coming to light.

Taking the opportunity to encourage women to “feel free to wear what they want,” she also thanked the fashion designers who made female empowering clothing.

“I just say, ‘bring it on, ladies!” Cate said. “Break it wide open. I think you’re all extraordinary.”
