After making his big break playing the action hero in franchises like Thor and The Avengers, there’s no denying that Chris Hemsworth knows how to play a great hunk.

With his golden hair and chiselled build, he’s an easy cast for a hero heartthrob, only the Aussie star admits he is growing tired of these roles and ready for something different.

“I came into Hollywood thinking I had to be Russell Crowe. I loved his performances, and because of my physicality and my size, that was the obvious choice,” Chris opened up to GQ Magazine.

“I think I was aware that it could kind of get me in the door – But it wasn’t me.”

For those that know the 35-year-old dad, Chris says it was ‘quite jarring’ for them to watch him on-screen playing a “straight, heroic, sort of overly masculine kind of thing”.

Now it’s reached the point where the actor is looking to take on roles that show a more humorous and vulnerable side to him, something he can relate to.

“I just want to be surprised,” he says. “I have a real fear of being bored.”

Fans have caught a glimpse of this in the 2016 female-led version of Ghostbusters, where he took on the role of a ditsy secretary, along with the third film in the Thor franchise, where Chris was keen to shake things up, making his macho character more vulnerable and emasculated.

Now the former Home and Away star is set to feature in the new creative crime thriller Bad Times at the El Royale that has got Chris excited as it goes against typical norms with a ‘Tarantino energy to it’

“It’s a thriller and a drama, but there are some humorous moments—in an insane way,” he hyped up.
