Chrissy Teigen sparks parenting debate with slide snap

She’s famed for being one of the most down-to-earth celebrity mums around, but Chrissy Teigen has sparked controversy after posting a snap of her going down a slide with her daughter Luna.

Currently expecting her second child with husband John Legend, Chrissy shared a snap of her hesitant looking 20-month-old sitting in her lap on play equipment.

“Weeeee are very skeptical of slides right now,” the model captioned the photo.

While the pic has since been liked nearly 700,000 times, it’s also attracted some comments from concerned parents who have shared horror stories of their children getting hurt when doing something similar.

“I did this when my son was a little over 1,” commented one parent. “The slide has a small bump in it and when we bounced his leg bounced off my leg and got twisted. He has a possible hairline fracture and was casted for a month. I felt terrible!”

“This did happen to my almost 2 year old son while riding down a slide on my sisters lap,” added another. “It was shocking to find out how common it was and devastating as a parent to see your child in pain. It was one of my hardest moments as a parent to completely immobilize a highly active 2 year old.”

With other people warning about broken legs and visits to emergency after slippery dip rides gone wrong, Chrissy was quick to hit back at the mum shamers.

“Wish you guys would have told me about the leg thing earlier,” she replied.

“They broke. Both of them.

“And everyone else’s in the park broke too just from watching it happen.

“There are so many broken legs here. (Heads up, photos are a one second moment in time, I was lifting her onto my lap).”

Other parents jumped to the model’s defence as well.

“Don't blame everyone else because you're a moron,” wrote one. “In all my years as a teacher I have never once heard anyone who has broken limbs going down a [half metre] slide. Just because you not very bright doesn't mean everyone suffers the same affliction.’”

“Well, I got 5 Boys and not one has gotten a broken leg going down a slide at a park!!” said another. “Or even at the park and get this ALl my boys play sports !!Get it together !! Stop stressing and start living, I’m sure your kids will thank u later!!!”
