Concerns grow for Love Island star Sophie Monk
Australia’s national treasure, Sophie Monk, is currently soaking up the sun in Mallorca filming Love Island.
While the 38-year-old is all smiles on the outside, it seems the ex-Bachelorette may not be as happy as we first thought.
According to a friend of Sophie’s, the starlet is under immense stress to deliver ratings for the new show and they are worried she may crack under the pressure.
In an interview with New Idea, the friend revealed that Sophie has taken the break-up with ex-boyfriend Stu Laundy really hard, particularly because she feels she let her fans down.
“She blames herself and feels like such a failure,” they said.
As part of her new hosting duties, the single 38-year-old has been enlisted to help a group of young, hot hopefuls put their hearts on the line for love.
“It is opening old wounds. One’s she has tried so hard to heal and put behind her.”
The decision to be part of such a big show was career based for Sophie, however, is a constant reminder of how single she is.
“I’ve been in stages where I thought, ‘I want to die, my life’s over,’” she told news.com.au in a recent interview.
“My thing is, I’m such a lover. And when I didn’t feel great about myself — I’d jump into relationships just because I love love and move too fast. I’m like, ‘This is the one, I’m gonna get married.’
Love Island premiered Sunday night to mixed reactions.
While Sophie is a popular choice for host, the show’s contestants and the overall content, not so much.
