Couple have royal-themed wedding at Disney World

A couple whose whole life was destroyed in a hurricane have married in a royal wedding themed ceremony at Disney World.

Jay Patel and Alexis Preston, who hail from Houston, Texas, had planned to tie the knot in a church ceremony in December.

But after losing their house and car to Hurricane Harvey in August, they had to put a hold on all of their planning.

The couple, who met in 2007 and became engaged at Disney World in 2016, are avid royal fans and decided to enter into Good Morning America’s competition to win a wedding in front of the Cinderella castle.

Alexis told People she was ecstatic to be picked out of 2,500 couples, as she spends most of her time either watching Disney movies or royal documentaries on Netflix.

On Thursday, Alexis got into her glass Cinderella coach, which was pulled by six white ponies and made her way to the Cinderella suite where her groom was waiting for her.

Trumpet players dressed in regal outfits stood alongside the couple, as well as a town crier in white and gold dress.

Confetti cannons blew out when they said ‘I do’ and they spent the rest of the day playing on the amusement park rides.

Their nuptials come just eight days before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will walk down the aisle in front of the eyes of the world.

Windsor Castle will be transformed into a royal wedding wonderland on May 19th for the wedding of the year, which is expected to attract royal fans from far and wide.
