Couple's epic airline-themed wedding
It’s the thing that brought them together, so when it came to planning their lavish nuptials, there was only one theme Bess Wohlner and Jeremy Simons could even contemplate having – a complete plane focused affair.
For Jeremy, who grew up in a family committed to US airline Delta, meeting Bess at a conference in 2008 hinted that he might have found someone special.
But when Bess agreed to do a ‘mileage run’ doing trips on Delta specifically to build up SkyMiles (and 47 hours travelling without ever leaving the airports), he knew she might be the one.
Despite this, it took a few more years for the couple to get together, and it was only when they happened to be on the same flight from New York to Tel Aviv that love flourished.
“I knew it was love when he handed off one of his upgrades and delivered his first class meal to me from the front of the plane,” Bess told The Delta News Hub.
From there, it was full steam ahead with their romance – with Jeremy soon popping the question and the couple planning their plane-themed wedding.
“I actually told him I’d rather have Diamond Status than the diamond ring,” People reports Bess saying.
Bridesmaids wore outfits with the same colour scheme as Delta uniforms, guests seating tags were actually baggage tags, and canapés came out on Delta branded cutlery.
Photos from the couple’s big day in February show them sharing a cake perched on top a airline trolley, and goofing around with oxygen masks for their big day photoshoot.
Naturally, they couple are flying Delta for their honeymoon as well, taking in an incredible around-the-world trip that sees them visit Amsterdam, Sri Lanka, Sydney and Vancouver.
Here’s hoping they get that elusive honeymoon upgrade!
