Would you date a man with four children to three women?
A woman has taken to the internet to ask for dating advice after finding out the man she had been seeing has four children to three different women.
Posting on parenting forum Mumsnet, she explains she’s been on three dates with a guy she really likes, but is worried about taking things to the next stage.
“I have my reservations,” she writes in a post shared on Monday.
“I know I don’t know the full story and forgive me for stereotyping but I can’t help but think he may lack stability or be a player.”
While she says ‘he’s charming’ she also reveals that he is often broke halfway through the month, and feels supporting four children, aged between one and 13, on a ‘below average income’ would make it difficult to also maintain a girlfriend.
Many agreed that they would also be wary in a similar situation.
“In your situation, I’d be wary too. I’d get out now,” one person wrote.
“Run for the hills,” was another suggestion.
People also suggested she ask more questions about his situation and what she wants out of the relationship.
“Had he been married to any of the mothers? This is one of the questions I’d be asking,” was one comment.
“Where do want this to go? Do you want to be a step-mum in a very complicated set-up?” another asked.
While many agreed the woman should take her exit, some suggested it’s important not to jump to conclusions.
“It depends why. I have four children to three men. It’s just the way things worked out for me,” one woman shared. “One child is the result of a short-term relationship when I was 20, two are from a long term relationship that didn’t work out and one is my husband’s.”
