Delta Goodrem opens up about backlash from Olivia Newton-John biopic
Delta Goodrem has opened up about the backlash she received following the release of Olivia Newton-John: Hopelessly Devoted to You last month.
In an interview with Stellar magazine, Delta insisted she always does her “best” and is a “hard worker”.
“I know life can’t be a bed of roses,” she explained. “I take on the fact I’m always learning. I don’t profess to be perfect at anything.”
The 33-year-old admitted playing the role of Olivia Newton-John was a once in a lifetime opportunity and was “filled with love and appreciation” to be a part of the biopic.
“I was having this full circle moment with the Olivia project,” she said. “When I got signed they asked me who I wanted to be, and I said Olivia Newton-John.”
Olivia previously shared her thoughts on the biopic in an interview with Australian Women’s Weekly back in April.
“When they told me they were doing it, I was horrified,” the Grease star admitted.
However, she soon realised the film who go ahead whether she “wanted it to or not”.
Despite her reservations about the film, the singer insisted all profits from the film be donated to her hospital in based in Melbourne, the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre.
Olivia was also thrilled it was Delta playing her in the biopic, insisting she was a “good actress and a great singer”.
