‘Eat, Pray, Love’ Pilgrimage Made Easy With New Tour

It’s been 10 years since Eat, Pray, Love graced our bookshelves and swiftly stole the hearts of every Oprah Book Club member. Where does the time go? To commemorate this anniversary, and because Valentine’s Day (with all its associated angst) is just around the corner, adventure tour operator Intrepid Travel have decided to do something a bit special – a one-off Eat, Pray, Love-inspired trip.

The 38-day itinerary runs from Italy to India to Bali, and is designed for solo female travellers who want to follow in author Elizabeth Gilbert’s footsteps.

The first leg (‘Eat’) is a food-themed journey through Italy, naturally. Starting in Rome, travellers will head north by train to Venice, stopping along the way to sip a few rare vintages at a family-run vineyard in San Gimignano, learn the secrets of a perfect ragù in Bologna and taste fresh-from-the-cask aged balsamic in Modena.

From Venice it’s a flight halfway around the world to Delhi. The ‘Pray’ leg of the trip is all about spirituality: travellers will see iconic sights like the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort at Agra, but they’ll also have a chance to explore ancient rock paintings in Chanderi, watch an evening puja ceremony in Orchha and float down the sacred Ganges in Varanasi.

For the last stop, travellers will fly to the Indonesian island of Bali. This is the ‘Love’ section of the trip, although the chances of meeting Javier Bardem and having a passionate affair ala Julia Roberts are probably slim at best. Instead travellers will travel through the idyllic countryside, visiting a local village in Sideman, climbing the slopes of Mt Batur and kicking back on the golden beaches of Lovina.

If you’re ready to indulge in a little self-discovery, this one-off single departure starts on September 30, 2016. You can find all the details at http://www.intrepidtravel.com/self-discovery
