Em Rusciano fails her first pregnancy weigh-in

Em Rusciano has teared up talking about the difficulties of her latest pregnancy, revealing she’s been left upset after ‘failing’ her first weigh-in.

The 2DayFM radio-host is currently expecting her third child but is being monitored closely by doctors after being diagnosed with gestational diabetes during her last pregnancy.

“Everything is making me cry at the moment,” she said. “I went to this weigh in yesterday and I failed it.”

The 39-year-old went on to explain that her doctor was concerned about her weight gain, after she gained 45kg when she was pregnant with daughter Odette back in 2013.

“I was over the 100 kilo mark and I do have a tendency to put on a lot of weight and that’s not good for the baby,” she said.

However she’s admitted she’s struggling with her cravings and is constantly hungry.

“I’m really hungry all the time, but I’m really full all the time,” she told her co-hosts, gold Logie winner Grant Denyer and Ed Kavaleee, adding she’d already eaten “nine meals today”.

The mum of two said her doctor was extremely supportive, offering up the details of a personal trainer who specialises in early pregnancy weight gain.

Em announced she was expecting her third child — a boy — at the start of the month, revealing the news was making her “so happy my heart may burst in my chest at any moment”.

The radio host already has two children with her husband Scott Barrow – Marchella, 16, and Odette, 11, – and the news comes just over one year after her devastating miscarriage.

In May last year, Em revealed she had lost her baby in a heartbreaking post on Facebook.

“About 10 weeks ago I got the most wondrous surprise. I found out I was pregnant,” she said. “I was going to announce it this Monday as we’d hit 13 weeks, but instead I will be at home in the most exquisite pain I can possibly fathom.

“Yesterday I found out that my little boy, was lost to me.”

At the time she also said she and Scott had decided to name their son Ray.

Six months after her loss in November, the radio host admitted she was was still coming to terms with everything.

“I just put one foot in front of the other and that’s all I can do,” Em told Be at Derby Day in Melbourne.
