This emoji is actually an ancient sex toy

If you’ve ever sent this emoji to someone with absolutely no idea what it actually means, then you’re in for a pretty hilarious surprise.

We tend to use the bright red mask face when we’re angry or we think somebody is telling a lie, because it has an unusually long nose.

However, it turns out that we’ve been using it all wrong and the face is actually a Japanese Tengu mask, which used to be an ancient sex toy.

Yep, you read that right – the face that you may have been sending your mum, your dad or even your best friend when you need to vent, was actually a piece of equipment lesbians used during sex.

A Twitter page, dedicated to depicting women’s lives from long ago, decided to clear the whole thing up with a pretty graphic explanation.

The photo they used shows two women – one wearing the mask around her, while penetrating her partner with the mask.

Needless to say, people on Twitter couldn’t believe the real meaning behind the WhatsApp emoji they’ve been using.
