Emotional Georgie Gardner opens up about her miscarriages
Georgie Gardner courageously opened up about her miscarriages on Today, after Candice Warner shared the heartbreaking news she recently suffered a miscarriage amidst cricketer husband David’s ball-tampering scandal.
The presenter got extremely emotional as she discussed what she went through after her own miscarriages, admitting she searched for “answers”.
“I wanted reasons, I wanted answers, I wanted to know why,” Georgie said. “I actually had a traumatic experience before I miscarried my first and immediately made that association.”
The 47-year-old was left speculating whether this “traumatic experience” may have brought on her miscarriage.
However, was told medically “there is no correlation”.
Georgie – who has two children Bronte, 12, and Angus, 10, with husband Tim Baker – also touched upon the subject of people asking her, soon after her miscarriages, what stage in her pregnancy she was.
“As if to almost suggest that if it was the first trimester, or not far into the second trimester, it almost wasn’t a baby,” she explained. “I found that incredibly offensive.”
The mum-of-three knew people asking “mean well” but didn’t “know how to tackle” the subject.
Georgie was discussing the subject of tackling the taboo-nature of talking about miscarriages with writer Dilvin Yasa, who also opened up about how “angry” she was after she miscarried.
Clearly affected by the segment, Georgie struggled to contain her tears as she handed back to fellow presenters Sylvia Jeffreys and Lara Vella.
“We’re a little emotional over here,” Georgie – who has three children said.
Candice Warner revealed to Australian Woman’s Weekly on Thursday, the stress and ridicule she received following her husband’s ball-tampering scandal is what contributed to her miscarrying.
“I’d have to be bullet-proof for the taunting not to have affected me,” the 33-year-old told the publication. “It rocked my very foundation and I paid the ultimate price, losing our baby.
“I wonder how all those who came after me feel now?”
