Dave Filoni: Ewan McGregor is welcome on Star Wars Rebels

'Star Wars Rebels' executive producer Dave Filoni says Ewan McGregor is on his "radar" to be part of the show.

Filoni is responsible for making the Lucasfilm Animation series, which is set between the films 'Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith' and 'Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope' in the chronology of the sci-fi saga, and he's always keen to have stars from the movies on his programme.

McGregor, 45, has been vocal about his wish to return to the saga as Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi - who he played in the prequel trilogy - and Filoni would be interested in getting him involved in his show as a voice actor.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, the 41-year-old animation expert said: "Ewan is absolutely someone on our radar, we would love to have him be a part of the show, for sure.

"We're interested in anybody, really, that performed in the films, it's always great to have that direct tie and to have people that have portrayed the character before. I do have a unique situation with Obi-Wan as James Arnold Taylor was my Obi-Wan in 'Clone Wars' for a long time so I used him early on in 'Star Wars Rebels', that was meant as a nod to people who had watched that animated series."

Other legacy 'Star Wars' actors who have appeared in 'Rebels' include Billy Dee Williams reprising his role as Lando Calrissian, James Earl Jones as Darth Vader and Frank Oz as Yoda.

The main cast of the Disney XD show boasts a host of famous names, including Freddie Prinze, Jr. as Kanan Jarrus, Jason Isaacs as the Inquisitor, David Oyelowo playing Imperial Security Bureau operative Agent Kallus, Brent Spiner as Senator Gall Trayvis and Vanessa Marshall portraying Hera Syndulla.
