She’s got one of the most recognizable names in pop, but Kylie Minogue is set to be no more once she marries fiancé Joshua Sasse.
The singer has revealed that she’s planning to drop her last name in favour of his, admitting she always found her full name to be a bit of a mouthful anyway.
“Kylie Sasse is a great name,” she tells You magazine. “Kylie Minogue never exactly tripped off the tongue.
“I’ll definitely by taking Sasse but there will be Minogue in there somewhere. Taking a different name makes a statement.”
And even if her new name wasn’t set to be so cool, the petite popstar admitted she wouldn’t feel comfortable with Josh taking her name instead.
“Nobody wants to be Mr Minogue,” continues Kylie, 48, who plans to marry Josh, 29, once gay marriage is legalized in Australia.
“The world around you sees you differently and a lot of guys can’t deal with that.”
The couple have been together for 18 months and got engaged last February, when Josh popped the question with a antique princess-cut diamond sparkler from 1908.
For me, it’s perfect,” she continues. “I’m not the sort of girl who would wear a solitaire. He got exactly the right ring for me. I love it. I love wearing it and what it represents.”
Sweetly, she also reveals that when she thinks of her man, she thinks of the famous line from Notting Hill when Julia Roberts tells Hugh Grant, “‘I’m just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.”
“For me, it’s that simple,” she says.
