Kochie and Karl's awkward Logies encounter

The four faces of Australia’s biggest morning TV shows Sunrise and TODAY met each other on the Logies red carpet on Sunday night, and their encounter was just as awkward as you would expect.

We’re greeted by Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson on screen as Karl reveals we’re about to witness a “A TV first!”

And to be frank, it was definitely a first – the first of several awkward moments at this year’s Logie Awards.

Before we know it David “Kochie” Koch and Samantha Armytage are in view and the fellow hosts greet each other. Innocent right? Perhaps if you missed Karl and Kochie almost-kiss because as one of them went in for a hug, while the other went in for a peck!

“You’re a terrible kisser!” Karl declares after he realises he’s just got a bit too close to his direct competition.

Lisa tries to calm the situation by laughing it off. “See, who says there’s a breakfast TV war?” she says. But Sam is quick to make a hilarious dig at the boys and says “I think there was actually a pash there! Was that a pash?”

Kochie chimes in to take the level of awkwardness to new heights. “We’ve been with each other in pyjamas in the past haven’t we?” he asks, and Karl nods to confirm his statement.

“Well you and I haven’t, we’ll have to fix that” Lisa soon interjects as she directs her question to Sam. “Let’s have a drink tonight!” she says in reply.

And just when we thought the cringe-fest was over, Karl asks Kochie if he’s going out with him after the show. “I am, are we going on a date?” Kochie asks. ‘I’ll show you a few things!” says Karl.

"Is there footy on tonight?” says Kochie. "No there’s no footy on, there’s other stuff on. And in the morning you can wake up with Today!”says Karl with a chuckle.

Clearly this cheekiness is too much for Kochie, he shuts Karl's response down by saying: “Ah get stuffed!”
