Osher hints Nikki rejected Bachelorette gig

While we’re still coming to terms with Sophie Monk’s as Australia’s next Bachelorette following yesterday's announcement, Osher Gunsberg has just let it slip that former bachie girl Nikki Gogan knocked back an offer on the TV show.

“There’s a lot of things that have to fall in line,” Osher says about the criteria needed to meet the honourable rose-giving title as the Bachelorette.

Despite being tipped by the public as the next bachelorette, it appears Nikki didn't want a bar of it. “You’re assuming that she wanted to do it,” says Osher. “So we don't know the answers do we? Women in our society have agency... they can do what they want. If she doesn’t want to do it, she doesn’t want to do it!” he exclaimed.

Fair enough, but one woman who does is Sophie Monk and Osher believes we’re in for good viewing in coming months. “Yeah Sophie’s our Bachelorette and I couldn’t be more excited!” he says.

Osher believes this particular series is extra close to his heart as he and the blonde beauty have been friends and he genuinely wants to see her succeed in love. “Look I’ve known her [Sophie] for a long time now. And to be able to help someone that I know fall in love, that’s something really nice to go to work and do.”

But who exactly is Sophie’s type? Osher says she may surprise us as she’s looking for something a little different. “What’s interesting is she and I spoke earlier… She’s been dating the celebrity red-carpet type but she hasn’t found what she’s looking for there.”

Given it’s the first celebrity Bachelorette, we asked Osher if we can expect things to run a little differently on set, but he stayed mum on that idea. “I don’t know, but I’m really excited about it. I think she’s going to be great. I got told about 12 hours ago that it was happening!”
