Eurovision 2017: Australia's Isaiah cracks top 10

Last night Australians around the world were glued to their television screens in hopes to watch Aussie Isaiah Firebrace take home the winning spot in the 2017 Eurovision grand final in Kiev, Ukraine.

But unlucky for him and the rest of the nation it didn't quite hit the mark with Portugal taking home the winning title.

Portugal's Salvador arrived only a week before the grand final and missed many rehearsals due to a life-threatening heart condition and is waiting for a heart transplant.

Salvador Sobral won millions of hearts with his beautiful jazz piece Amar Pelos Dois, and while our Aussie had a good performance with his song Don't Come Easy, Isaiah took home a very respectable ninth place.

The 17-year old from Moana New South Wales and his team worked on a a couple of last-minute changes to his perfomance during rehearsals Saturday, smoothing over the high note that the singer struggled with in the semi-finals.

Isaiah is closing in on two million Spotify streams for his song Don’t Come Easy andt his Eurovision campaign has had an even bigger impact on his post X Factor single It’s Gotta Be You jumped to more than 81 million streams ahead of his grand final appearance.

Meanwhile Australian Anja Nissen who was representing her parents' birth country Denmark joined Isiah and Salvador who came 20th out of 26 countries.

The top 10 for 2017 were Portugal, Bulgaria, Moldova, Belgium, Sweden, Italy, Romania, Hungary, Australia and Norway.
