Amber Rose explains THAT nude photo

Last month Amber Rose did something most celebs don’t; she posted a photo of her vagina, complete with natural bush.

It wasn’t any old photo either, but a carefully curated one that she shared with she hope of sending a message about women’s bodies.

Opening up to Refinery 29, Amber explains, “I feel like as women, we always feel like we need to shave or wax”.

“And if we don't, then we're considered unkempt or unclean or we're gonna smell funny. I believe that it's natural and we shouldn't be ashamed of it.”

Amber, 33, made such a point of focusing on her pubic hair in that image, that she asked for her leg tattoos to be photoshopped out.

“People are very uncomfortable with the female body,” she says.

“It's ok to leak images onto the Internet and people are like, 'Yeah, that's so cool.' But if you actually do it yourself and in a way that's owning your own sexuality, it's almost taboo.”

Amber wants to draw attention to the fact that there’s still a double standard around women showing their bodies and owning their sexuality.

A case in point is the fact that Instagram will delete photos that feature women’s nipples but not men’s. Even breastfeeding pictures that show nipple are taken down.

Instagram swiftly deleted Amber’s photo but she late posted it to Twitter where she’s received no shortage of feedback – both praise and criticism - from the public.
