Anthony Callea on 'Yes' vote: 'Let's all respect each other'

Singer Anthony Callea has opened up about the marriage equality 'Yes' vote and hopes parliament will get a move on in legalising same-sex marriage.

While chatting to Be at the 2017 ARIA Awards, Anthony said we now need to move forward.

"Finally it's come through and let's just see it actually pass through parliament now," the 34-year-old told Be.

"Let's all respect each other for whatever way we live our lives," he continued. "Whether it's religion, whether it's sexuality. Whatever your beliefs are, let's all just get on."

Anthony was dressed to the nines on Tuesday night looking as fabulous as ever.

Earlier this month the Head of the Australian Bureau of Statistics, David Kalisch, announced that 61.6 per cent of those who participated in the postal vote wanted to see the law change.

The Senate will be asked later today to support a move to introduce draft laws allowing same-sex marriage on Thursday.

The proposed bill will be debated in both houses of parliament but Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull remains confident the law can be passed before Christmas.
