Aussies win at Critics' Choice Awards

Aussie stars Margot Robbie and Nicole Kidman have each come out winners at the 23rd Annual Critics' Choice Awards.

Margot Robbie was left close to tears after winning Best Actress in a Comedy for her role in I, Tonya.

While Margot missed out on a Golden Globe for her performance as troubled former Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding earlier this week, the 27-year-old was thrilled and visibly shocked when her name was called out.

On her way to the stage, she was stopped by fellow-nominee Saoirse Ronan and the pair shared an embrace.

Margot was also up for the Best Actress gong, however it went to Frances McDormand for her role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Also nominated were Jessica Chastain, Sally Hawkins, Meryl Streep and globe winner Saoirse.

Fellow Aussie Nicole Kidman has also taken out another gong for Big Little Lies, winning Best Actress in a Movie Made for TV or Limited Series.

Before the ceremony Margot stunned on the blue carpet in a gold and black ensemble, framed with a frilly neckline.

Fellow Aussies Abbie Cornish and Samara Weaving were also in attendance.
